Michael & Son is looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to manage and process the bi-weekly payroll for our 600-plus employee team. Our payroll includes the calculation of a high volume of commissions and other incentive pay and calculations.
Responsibilities include:
· Analyze, prepare, and input payroll data for hourly, salaried, and commissioned employees
· In depth knowledge of tax withholdings and the requirements of setting up new companies
· Identify and implement process improvement procedures and perform root cause analysis of payroll issues
· Partner on the implementation of upgraded payroll system
· Experience with general ledger entries and posting and performing month-end payroll reconciliations
· Assist employees on all payroll-related inquiries
· Work with ADP on submitting payroll tax fillings
· Responsible for complete and accurate timekeeping processing
· Organize workflow to ensure payroll transactions, such as adjustments, terminations, commissions, incentive payments, corrections, are processed accurately and timely
· Prepare void/manual check adjustments, corresponding general ledger adjustments, manual checks and stop payment requests/reissues
· Provides recommendations to resolve basic to complex payroll issues
· Maintains and updates all payroll processing and documentation to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal payroll regulations and for maintaining payroll records
Position requirements
· 5 plus years of payroll processing experience for mid- to large-sized employers

CPP or FPC certified highly desired, ADP certification is a big plus
· Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft applications
· Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization
· Ability to adapt in a fast paced, continually changing and deadline-driven business

Associates or Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance desired

Detailed knowledge of Federal and State tax compliance and garnishments
